Pulsing Sessions for individuals
For a Pulsing session you need to wear light, comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movements. Many clients bring a T-shirt and jogpants to change into. You will need to remove your shoes and any loose jewelry (such as bracelets, watches and necklaces). Some clients prefer to undress down to underwear, but this is completely a matter of your choice.
The Tai Chi of massage?
Pulsing is often described as "The Tai Chi of massage". While this captures something of its spirit, Pulsing actually contains little of what most people would consider as 'massage.' Although you lie on a couch, you may remain fully clothed, no oil is used and there are no long strokes or deep work on muscles. It is about mobility and movement. I think of it more in terms of a dance. You, the receiver, are allowing me to dance your body; you do not need to make an effort or do anything except relax into the movement and connect with breath and awareness to the pulse of your body.
There are a few contraindications (conditions where treatment should not take place), such as: the first trimester & last few weeks of pregnancy; a slipped disk; serious varicose veins; thrombosis; advanced osteoporosis. If you have any doubts, please ask your GP or Consultant. For your own well-being you must mention any current illnesses or injuries to me prior to the session. You should not attend a session under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs or immediately after a large meal.
Session length and cost
Sessions last 60 minutes. Many people I see are using Pulsing as part of their psychotherapeutic process and often wish to have a discussion afterwards, so I also offer an extended 90 minute session that includes a full 60 minutes of hands-on work followed by a time for reflection and discussion. I find this does make a difference: bodies respond positively to not being rushed and feeling that you have gifted them time and space.
A single one 1 hour session costs £45. The extended 90 minute session is £60.
I offer a £5 discount for regular sessions booked in advance: £40 (standard session) and £55 (extended session).
